| Welcome to the FlightPlanner home page. This Java version is vastly improved over the old clunky DOS program. Flight plans can be entered by hand but you will most likely elect to use the mouse directly on the supplied Sectional and Terminal Area Charts for the Continental United States and Hawaii. Defining a flight plan is only a matter of clicking on the selected chart and defining the departure airports, any intermediate checkpoints, and the destination airport. FlightPlanner uses a database of US airports, navaids, and fixes to recognize the selected checkpoints and automatically computes the distances and courses between them. Adding, inserting, and deleting legs is just a matter of clicking on the chart. A terrain database for the US allows verification of FlightPlanner's suggested flight altitudes. | |

Aircraft Performance Data is currently provided for eight common aircraft types. Data is included for climb, cruise, and fuel economy
performance as well as weight and balance. Adding your own aircraft is easy using data supplied in your Pilot's
Operating Handbook.
Enter winds aloft then let FlightPlanner compute a detailed flight plan which you print and use on the flight. The flight plan track on the Sectional Chart can also be viewed at the scale of your choice and then printed. FlightPlanner is written as a Java Application permitting a sophisticated user interface for ease of use and comprehensive presentation of data and results. There are many additional capabilities and functions. Please take the short features tour for more on FlightPlanner's capabilities. |

| JBallistics is a JAVA Application. You must have the latest version of the Sun JAVA Runtime Environment installed on your computer. This is included on the FlightPlanner CDROM. |
|
| You can download a limited function demo version. This is limited to one aircraft, one Sectional and no terrain elevation database. All of the planning functions are available. You must still have the Java Runtime Environment properly installed for the demo to run. This is available as a free download from Sun Computer. To execute the demo, double click on the FlightPlannerDemo shortcut icon placed in the FlightPlannerDemo subdirectory. Use Windows Explorer to access the directory. |
