Fairing Removal

It is necessary to remove the fairing to access components around the headlight pod or for exchange following a crash.

The first step is to remove the left and right fairing inserts. These pictures illustrate the procedure for the removal of the right fairing insert. These show some previously installed clear flush mounts in place.

On installation of a new replacement fairing the windshield screw mounts must be transferred to the new unit. They do not come with it. You have to twist them out backwards while coaxing the rubber through the hole. Then reverse that to install.

Watch this rubber bumper on reinstallation. The fairing fits underneath it. It is easy to jam the bottom of the fairing into it and to dislodge it from its mount. Then you have to struggle to twist it back in its hole.
